Worship at Enon
Our worship hour at Enon is best described as traditional. It is held, not in a worship center, but in our sanctuary. That word, sanctuary, best describes the place where we corporately meet together to experience God. It is a holy time where we expect a holy experience.
There is, of course, a sermon by the pastor but there is much more than that. We worship by singing some great old songs of the faith (and some new). We worship by unifying our hearts together in seeking the truth of the scriptures. We worship as we remember the needs of others as we pray. We worship as we bow together in prayer, thanking our awesome God for the gift of his Son and recognizing Him for the sacrifices He made on our behalf. And we worship as we take up an offering to show our Great Benefactor how much we appreciate his blessings in our daily lives.
One rather unique part of our worship hour is our Glory Time. We take a moment or two to hear from members of the congregation. They share how God is alive and well within their own lives and the lives of families and friends. Perhaps someone has been inspired by a beautiful sunrise or seen the first bloom of spring, but they feel God inspiring them to speak on its Creator and his works. Or, perhaps, prayer has been requested for a friend in the hospital. This is the perfect time for an update and testimony to the power of God in fulfilling that request. God directed miracles still happen everyday; ask any surgeon in town.
The worship hour concludes with a sermon which is generally expository in nature but always full of the truth of God’s Word. No opinions, no politics, no personal agenda, simply the Word explained in an interesting manner, sometimes humorous, often anecdotal, always for our benefit as we understand better our need for the Lord and the wisdom of the Holy Scriptures. You may not leave with all the answers, but you will go knowing that God has all the answers.
Welcome to Enon Baptist's website. We hope that the information contained in this website will give you some indication of what we have to offer at Enon Baptist Church. But the best of what we have to offer must be experienced. No matter how accurate the description of the facilities, the program, or the staff, you just have to be there to experience the warmth, the friendliness, and the love of God's people. The essence of the spiritual experience is based upon the ongoing relationship one has with God, and so, too, is the church experience at Enon Baptist.
The traditional reasons for the existence of the church have been identified as evangelism, discipleship, fellowship, worship, and ministry. You will find all these components intermingled within and throughout the fellowship of our church.
Be assured that God has a place for you in his kingdom and so do we. We look forward to serving with you should you choose to become a part of one of the longest established churches in the Roanoke Valley.
